Insurance Underwriter

Overview

Models bind a risk no underwriter would touch: a premium that ignores the loss history, exclusions that don't match the exposure, a claim decision that misreads the policy language. Someone has to price the risk and read the contract the way it will be read in a dispute, and that someone is you.

As an Insurance Underwriter you'll evaluate AI underwriting and claims reasoning, check the pricing and the policy logic, and write the judgments that teach models how risk is really accepted and paid.

What you’ll actually do

• Review AI underwriting: risk selection, pricing, and the exposures behind a quoted premium.
• Test claims and policy reasoning: coverage, exclusions, and language read the way an adjuster would.
• Write the underwriting call when the model falls short, grounded in real risk and policy practice.

Compensation

$75 to $125+/hr depending on task difficulty and specialization. Many contributors add $10k to $100k+ a year; some make it their full-time income.
