About this role
Overview
Models build an LBO that returns a tidy IRR and skip the parts that make or break a deal: a debt schedule that ignores the covenants, an entry multiple with no exit story, diligence that takes management's projections at face value. Someone has to underwrite it like their own capital is at stake, and that someone is you.
As a Private Equity Associate you'll evaluate AI-built LBO models and diligence, check the return drivers and the downside, and write the judgments that teach models how private-market deals are underwritten.
What you’ll actually do
- Underwrite AI-built LBOs: entry and exit multiples, the debt schedule, and the return bridge that explains the IRR.
- Test the diligence: management projections, market claims, and the downside case the model conveniently skipped.
- Write the investment-committee answer when the model falls short, with returns and risks a partner would sign.
Roles this fits
Common backgrounds: Private Equity Associate, Growth Equity Analyst, Due Diligence Analyst.
What we look for
- Experience in private equity, growth equity, or transaction diligence.
- Fluency with LBO modeling and the mechanics of leveraged deals.
- Clear written English: your explanations are the training signal.
- No degree required. We care about what you can do, not where you learned it.
Compensation
$75 to $125+/hr depending on task difficulty and specialization. Many contributors add $10k to $100k+ a year; some make it their full-time income.
