About this role
Overview
Ask a model a tax question and it answers with authority, then applies a code section that changed last year, misses a phaseout, treats an S corp like a partnership, and forgets that state rules diverge from federal. The number lands confidently wrong. A tax professional like you is who catches the error before it reaches a return.
As a Tax Accountant you'll evaluate AI work on tax rules, provisions, and compliance, check the treatment against the current code, and write the answer a careful preparer would put their name on.
What you’ll actually do
- Draft prompts that probe tax treatment, provision calculations, entity structuring, and compliance across federal and state.
- Review AI output for outdated code sections, missed phaseouts, wrong entity treatment, and book-tax differences, and rate the reasoning.
- Write the correct treatment when the model falls short, with the working shown clearly.
Roles this fits
Common backgrounds: Corporate Tax Manager, Tax Director, Tax Analyst.
What we look for
- Hands-on tax experience: corporate, individual, or provision (ASC 740) work.
- Comfort tracing a position back to the code and current guidance.
- Clear written English: your explanations are the training signal.
- No degree required. We care about what you can do, not where you learned it.
Compensation
$75 to $125+/hr depending on task difficulty and specialization. Many contributors add $10k to $100k+ a year; some make it their full-time income.
