Software engineer → Code and reasoning evaluation
From software engineer to AI code and reasoning evaluator
Laid off after a coding assistant landed? Free training to evaluate generated code, grade reasoning, and verify the output of the models that displaced you. Certification and placement support included.
What happened to the job
Coding assistants absorbed the work first at the junior end and then well above it: boilerplate, glue code, test scaffolding, routine refactors, and the first draft of almost anything. Teams that used to hire three engineers hire one and a subscription.
Why you are already good at this
Those assistants are confidently wrong in ways only someone who reads code can catch. Generated code that compiles, passes the happy path, and hides a wrong algorithm is the single hardest thing to grade at scale, and labs pay the widest premium on the board for people who can do it. You can already read unfamiliar code and reason about whether it is correct. That is the qualification.
- Judging generated code for correctness and complexity, not just whether it runs
- Grading step by step reasoning and locating the first genuinely invalid move
- Writing adversarial test cases that separate a working solution from a lucky one
- Producing verification notes another engineer can reproduce
